KCCSC ACTIVITIES
Activities of the Knanaya Catholic Congress of Southern California
(KCCSC)
The Knanaya Catholic Congress of Southern
California (KCCSC), originally established as the Knanaya Catholic
Congress of Los Angeles (KCCLA), has been an integral part of preserving
and promoting the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Knanaya
Catholic community in Southern California. The organization engages in a
wide variety of activities that reflect the values, traditions, and
unity of its members.
1. Religious Celebrations and Worship:
- KCCSC collaborates
closely with St. Pius X Knanaya Catholic Parish in Los Angeles to
organize key religious events such as Christmas and Easter celebrations,
Holy Week services, and Syro-Malabar Qurbana (Mass). These activities
provide opportunities for members to strengthen their faith and
participate in vibrant spiritual life.
2. Cultural and Community Events:
- To foster community
spirit and preserve Knanaya traditions, KCCSC hosts annual events like
the Knanaya Family Picnic, Family Camp, and the energetic Knanaya Night,
which celebrates the community's cultural richness through performances,
food, and social gatherings.
3. Support for Church Initiatives:
- KCCSC played a pivotal
role in the establishment of the St. Pius X Knanaya Catholic Mission in
2002 under the leadership of Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath and Fr. Abraham
Mutholath. It continues to support the mission's growth and development,
ensuring that the Syro-Malabar Catholic faith thrives in the region.
4. Family and Youth Engagement:
- KCCSC prioritizes
engaging families and younger generations through inclusive events that
emphasize unity, heritage, and faith. Activities are designed to nurture
a sense of belonging and ensure the continuation of Knanaya traditions.
Through these initiatives, KCCSC not only strengthens the bonds within the Knanaya Catholic community but also serves as a bridge between generations, uniting them in faith, culture, and mutual support.
